EPP Transfer Protection
Determine what EPP is, what it's used for and why it’s crucial for your domain names.
If you decide to transfer a domain from one registrar company to another, you’ll need to go through a few safety steps. One of them is obtaining a unique EPP authentication code from the present registrar – on the condition that you are the domain registrant, since the code is emailed to the owner's email account and no one else can obtain it. You will have to give this code to the new registrar company, or else they won’t be able to initiate the transfer. The EPP authorization codes are case-sensitive and may contain numbers or special symbols such as commas or dots, which can be easily miswritten, so make sure you copy/paste the correct code. As an additional safety measure, the transfer code for a domain name may be altered regularly. Some registrars refer to this code as an Auth key, a domain secret or a domain password as well.
