Password Protected Directories
Understand more on password-protected directories and just what they bring to your website.
If you wish to keep some content hidden from the public eye, you could enable password protection for a certain folder - either the primary site folder or another one below it. If this function is activated, a pop-up shall appear every time a person attempts to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link that goes a few levels deeper, so login information will be necessary for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg if you have protected just the domain.com folder. When the credentials are not valid, a “403 Forbidden” message shall appear and there's no method of getting around this restriction, so you can be positive that nobody shall be able access the shielded content. The feature can be useful in a variety of situations - if only certain people need to be able to see particular files, if you are building an Internet site and you don't want people to see it prior to it being completed, and so on.

Password Protected Directories in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a
semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to protect any content that you have uploaded through our protection tool. Its interface is as simple and intuitive as that of the Hepsia Control Panel it's a part of, so you'll not need to type in any code at any time. You will simply need to choose one of the domains/subdomains you have inside the website hosting account and to pick which folder should be password-protected - the website’s root folder or some folder below it. Then you can input the username and the password, that'll be stored in encrypted form in our system, and you will be ready. The protection will be switched on immediately, so anyone who attempts to access the newly protected folder shall have to input the accurate login info. If various individuals should be able to open precisely the same content, you can create a separate username for each.
